Muffin Break, Australia’s favourite coffee shop, opens in an exciting new location today Wednesday, July 13th. After trading for over 32 years, with 200 stores Australia wide, this family owned franchise will be in the heart of Jesmond – Jesmond Central Shopping Centre!
We will be connecting to even more Aussies around the country, creating a greater sense of community, shared over the perfect pair of a muffin and coffee.

welcoming Nathan, our new Franchisee
Nathan, the franchisee at Muffin Break Jesmond, is thrilled to open his first Muffin Break! Born and bred in the Newcastle area, Nathan completed his Bachelor of Law at the University of Newcastle prior to starting his journey in hospitality.
Caring by nature, after university he worked at the community legal centre, offering free legal advice to disadvantaged people. “It was an amazing experience which gave me a lifelong passion for people and community.”
Having opened his first franchise, Jamaica Blue in Westfield Kotara, 10 years ago, Nathan went on to open two more stores within the greater Newcastle area. Now, Nathan is thrilled to be stepping into the Muffin Break world, whilst strengthening his relationship with the local community, all whilst providing exceptional customer service and great coffee.
Nathan felt the decision was easy when choosing to purchase a Muffin Break.
“Muffin Break is such an iconic brand, from the products to the coffee! This store will also deliver a complete café dining experience, it’ll be the perfect place to have that catch-up with family or friends, a work meeting or even just to take a break from shopping. Plus, I know the Jesmond locals love a sweet treat! I can’t wait to open our first Muffin Break!”.
When thinking about store design, we believed that less was more. Lauren Mills, Muffin Break’s Senior Designer mentions, “We have simplified the colour palette to allow our products and key messaging to stand proud. This includes a suspended muffin cooling rack not only showcases our diverse muffin flavours but also communicates to our customers that we are continuously baking our products fresh on site, every day.
We have also integrated wheat illustrations hand drawn by Australian illustrator Adriana Picker, which communicate the provenance of our products and brings movement to the store interior.”
What does this mean for Nathan’s customers? Service with a friendly smile and a chat with their fellow locals. Anticipate walking away from the store feeling that the teams have added a little more goodness to their customers’ day.
