Muffin Break Christmas Packaging

By Illustrator Adriana Picker

Muffin Break is getting into the festive season with our new Christmas coffee cups and muffin boxes!

Adriana Picker is an illustrator that specialises in botanical and food illustrations. While now based in New York, she grew up in New South Wales in the coastal town Newcastle and the Blue Mountains. Growing up with an artistic family who nurtured creativity motivated her to continue with her passion to become a commercial artist. Companies she has illustrated for include Mecca Cosmetica, Australian Vogue, Murdoch Books and Quay Restaurant.

Adriana originally thought fashion illustration would be her ticket to market success. However, her artistic expression has been inspired by her family who are passionate gardenders and a childhood filled with walking in the Blue Mountains with her mother.

Christmas Packaging for Muffin Break

Designing Muffin Break’s 2017 Christmas packaging has allowed Adriana’s passion for nature to bloom. She was already very familiar with the brand, as she cherishes fond memories of her grandfather treating her to muffins at their local store. Adriana says she thinks the authenticity of Muffin Break is a major factor in its continued popularity.

When she arrived at Muffin Break’s Head Office in Moore Park for the Christmas packaging design brief, Adriana was thrilled to see the emphasis on community inter-weaved throughout the brand. It felt like a movement away from mass-produced and industrialised farming and an emphasis on the human element and high quality of the ingredients.

Adriana’s botanical illustrations ties in well. The connection between the growers of Muffin Break’s wholesome ingredients and association with nature works perfectly.

Muffin Break didn’t want perfect illustrations but a focus on the realness of nature and handcraft, which is perfectly imperfect and unpretentious. The end result is stunning. Adriana’s finely delineated illustrations of coffee plant leaves have a gorgeous competition and texture…and reflect Muffin Break’s award-winning blend. There is also a strong correlation between the leaves of the coffee plant and Christmas holly. It evokes a traditional Christmas, while having an original slant.

Merry and Bright

Muffin Break features “Merry and Bright” across all our Christmas packaging and some of you have asked where has this come from? It is a term used in the Christmas carol classic “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
