A familiar favourite has returned to Karratha, with local owner Sally bringing Muffin Break back to Karratha Plaza City after almost a decade away.
Muffin Break has officially returned to Karratha, and the community has certainly been ready for it.
The brand first opened at Karratha Plaza City in 2003, becoming a familiar part of the local community before the store closed in 2017. Almost 10 years later, Muffin Break is back, with a brand-new store opening its doors on Thursday 1 October 2026.
And the response? Nothing short of extraordinary.
The new Karratha store achieved record-breaking sales for a new Muffin Break store on opening day, showing just how much the local community had been missing its favourite muffins, coffee and café moments.
Bringing back a local favourite
For local owner Sally, reopening Muffin Break in Karratha was about more than starting a new business. It was about bringing back a brand she knew the community loved.
Sally is a long-time Karratha local, as is her husband, and she remembered the original Muffin Break at Karratha Plaza City. When the store eventually closed, she was disappointed to see it go , and as she started considering her own business opportunity, Muffin Break immediately stood out.
She began talking to people in the local community and quickly discovered she wasn’t the only one who remembered the store fondly.
There was a clear appetite for Muffin Break to return.
For Sally, that local connection made the opportunity even more exciting. With experience as a KFC store manager, she already understood what it takes to run a busy customer-focused business. Now, she’s putting that experience into building a Muffin Break store of her own – right in the community she calls home.
351 coffees and counting
The excitement didn’t stop on opening day.
On Friday 2 October, Sally and her team welcomed the community with a Free Coffee Day, giving locals the chance to come in, reconnect with an old favourite and experience the brand-new store.
And Karratha showed up.
The team served an incredible 351 free coffees in a single day, providing a pretty clear sign that Muffin Break’s return was warmly welcomed by the local community.
For Sally, it’s exactly the kind of community connection she was hoping to build when she decided to bring Muffin Break back to Karratha.
